GUEST BOOKING POLICY
Booking & payment terms
A 50% deposit is required within seven days of accepting your quotation to secure accommodation. The balance is due 14 days before arrival. Bookings made within 14 days of arrival require full payment when confirmed. Your written confirmation sets out the dates, guests, inclusions and payment deadline. Please contact us if you need to change your arrangements.
Accommodation cancellations
Cancel in writing to info@mountmarula.co.za. The following are maximum charges against the total cancelled accommodation value, subject to a reasonable assessment of the circumstances:
| Notice before arrival | Maximum charge |
|---|---|
| 31 days or more | No cancellation charge |
| 15–30 days | 25% |
| 8–14 days | 50% |
| 0–7 days or no-show | 100% |
Charges are assessed for reasonableness, considering notice, the nature of the booking and the ability to resell the accommodation. Any amounts recovered through rebooking are taken into account; charges may be reduced accordingly. The balance of any payment, after a justified charge, is refunded.
No cancellation fee applies where the booking cannot be honoured because the person for whose benefit it was made dies or is hospitalised, as provided by the Consumer Protection Act. If the lodge cancels and cannot provide the booked service, you may choose an agreed alternative or a refund for the unprovided service. No term removes statutory consumer rights.
Day visits, game drives, training and events are confirmed by quotation with their own clearly disclosed payment and cancellation arrangements before payment. Travel insurance is recommended.
Children & family visits
Children are welcome by prior arrangement in suitable accommodation. Please provide their ages when enquiring so we can confirm sleeping arrangements, rates and activity suitability.
Parents or guardians must supervise children at all times, particularly near wildlife, water, fires, vehicles, stairs and viewing hides. Children may not roam independently. The farm is a wildlife environment and encounters with animals carry inherent risks.
For shared activities, shared game drives are for children aged six and over, accompanied by an adult, subject to the guide’s safety assessment. For younger children, enquire about a suitable private arrangement; participation is not guaranteed. Hide access is arranged individually according to the child’s age and the hide’s suitability. The guide may restrict or stop participation where safety requires it.
Parental supervision and acknowledgement of wildlife risks do not exclude the lodge’s legal responsibilities or guests’ statutory rights.
Arrival, meals and facilities
Check-in is from 14:00; check-out is by 10:00. Arrange late arrival with the lodge. All accommodation is self-catering; meals and dietary requirements must be requested beforehand and confirmed by the lodge. Ask about child suitability, accessibility, pool access, pets and any connectivity requirements before booking. Solar power and Wi-Fi do not constitute a guarantee of uninterrupted service.
Wildlife and activity safety
Wild animals are unpredictable. Follow staff instructions, use designated guest areas, never feed or approach wildlife and do not leave vehicles or hides without permission. Independent bush walks are not offered. Keep children under close adult supervision. Fires, drones and access to operational areas require lodge approval. Hunting activities are arranged separately with the lodge and are not part of ordinary game-viewing or hide visits.
Activities may need to change because of weather, wildlife movement or safety conditions. The lodge will discuss alternatives and any applicable refund arrangements. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
Photographs and website information
Some wildlife and training photographs are reference images, identified with credits where applicable. They do not guarantee a sighting or represent a completed course at Mount Marula. Ask permission before photographing other guests. Guest photographs are published only with the contributor’s permission and appropriate rights.
